Frank Langella Fired From Netflix Project After Misconduct Investigation

Frank Langella has been fired from his lead role in ‘The Fall of the House of Usher’, Netflix’s eight-episode limited series based on the works of Edgar Allan Poe following an investigation into accusations of sexual harassment and misconduct.

According to reports, the investigation was launched after the 84-year-old actor had been accused of sexual harassment, including making inappropriate comments to a female co-star on set during work.

TMZ reported,

As for what exactly happened, a source close to production tells us the 84-year-old actor allegedly made an inappropriate joke that was sexual in nature. Our sources also say in the context of his performance, possibly during rehearsal, he touched the leg of a female star, and further drew attention to the action when he jokingly said something like "Did you like that?"

It determined that Langella had been involved in unacceptable conduct on set. As a result, a decision has been made to recast the role of Roderick Usher,

The Mike Flanagan miniseries, based on Edgar Allan Poe's short story of the same name, is halfway through production, so the scenes Langella has already filmed will be reshot once another actor is cast, the outlet added. In the meantime, the miniseries will continue filming without Roderick Usher's scenes.

Langella was the first cast in The Fall of the House of Usher in December alongside Carla Gugino and Mark Hamill, Mary McDonnell, and Carl Lumbly.
