Actors rap and wave French flags in REVENGE SONG, a swashbuckling real life story of a queer 17th century French swordswoman Julie d’Aubigny (Margaret Odette), yet try too hard to make this off-kilter Vampire Company production commissioned and developed by the Geffen appealing to their faithful audience.

The Book of Mormon shows the power of service, friendship, love, and believing in a higher power, by the creators of the hit-comedy show South Park.

Grammy Award winning Sting writes the music and lyrics to his newest musical “The Last Ship.” Los Angeles fans are lucky to see him perform in the roll of foreman “Jackie White” in a story of friendship, love and perseverance.

VOLTA is one of Cirque du Soleil's finest shows driven by a stirring melodic score with a full band and two singers. The talented performers infectious adventure and spirit fuels audience adoration throughout the show 

 Matthew Weaver created a multi-genre entertaining musical Rock of Ages that debuted in Los Angeles at the King King club on Hollywood Blvd. With its success, it was made into a motion picture, and also opened on Broadway. After performing over 2,350 shows, Rock of Ages earned 5 Tony nominations, and branched out to 20 productions worldwide. It appeals to all ages over 12 years old appreciating 30 hit songs from the 80s. It’s now back in Hollywood.

As the Chief Los Angeles Theatre Critic, I watched over 40 theatrical productions in the greater Los Angeles area and in Las Vegas. Here is my list of the most entertaining shows in 2019.

The professional cast and creative team are warming audience hearts in Jennifer Lee’s heartfelt story infused with a generous dose of Disney magic.

Emmy Award-winning choreographers Derek and Julianne Hough, find joy and love working together on new projects. Rene Reyes honored and interviewed the talented brother and sister at the Paley Center before their NBC television special - Holidays with the Houghs.
