About Us

OnStage Blog was launched in 2014…

Chris Peterson started this site with a simple but bold mission: to say the things about theatre that others were too afraid to say out loud. What started as a local blog covering community theatre in Connecticut has grown into a nationally recognized voice in the performing arts world, covering Broadway, regional stages, high school productions, and everything in between.

OnStage Blog has made a name for itself by speaking truth to power. Whether calling out casting inequities, examining toxic behavior in educational programs, or lifting up underappreciated artists, this site has never shied away from tough conversations. It’s not just a review site or a news feed—it’s a place where the theatre community goes to talk about what actually matters.

From heartfelt tributes to behind-the-scenes realities, OnStage Blog invites you into a dialogue about theatre that feels more like sitting around a green room than reading a press release. If you love theatre and believe it can be better, welcome.

Chris Peterson - Founder

Chris Peterson is the founder and of OnStage Blog, which started as a small site covering community theatre in Connecticut and quickly turned into one of the most widely read theatre blogs on the planet.

Since launching the site in 2014, his writing has sparked national conversations, appeared on MSNBC, and been featured in The New York Times, The Boston Globe, and The Hollywood Reporter, and yes, made a few people uncomfortable in all the right ways.

Chris believes theatre should be accessible, inclusive, and safe for everyone—full stop. Whether he's amplifying underrepresented voices or holding institutions accountable, his goal has never been to please everyone. It’s to tell the truth, ask hard questions, and keep the conversation moving forward.
