Los Angeles Theatre Update Regarding the Coronavirus

Since the Coronavirus situation is quickly evolving, as of March 12, 2020 at 4:37 p.m. the following Los Angeles Theatres:

CLOSED - CENTER THEATRE GROUP Michael Ritchie, Artistic Director and Meghan Pressman, Managing Director/CEO issued a letter today about the quickly evolving COVID-19. “To comply with the overnight directive of the California Department of Public Health and a mandate from the County of Los Angeles, we are immediately canceling all performances of The Book of MormonThe Antipodes, and Block Party at the Ahmanson Theatre, Mark Taper Forum, and Kirk Douglas Theatre to help lessen the spread of the virus. Please visit the Health and Safety page the CTGLA website for up-to-date information. If you have any questions, please email  tickets@ctgla.org or call Audience Services at 213.628.2772.

CLOSED - HOLLYWOOD PANTAGES THEATRE “At the direction of Governor Gavin Newsom, performances of HAMILTON at the Hollywood Pantages Theatre will be suspended beginning this evening (tonight’s performance of HAMILTON at 8pm) through Tuesday, March 31st, in support of the well-being of the theatre-going public as well as those who work on the production, subject to ongoing assessment by County or State Health Authorities. If you have purchased tickets to a performance of HAMILTON during this time period, we have already initiated a refund of your money including fees (except UPS if applicable). Ticket refunds should be received within 7-10 business days.”

CLOSED - LA MIRADA THEATRE - Today, the Governor and public health officials have recommended that all gatherings of over 250 people be postponed until after March 31st, and we will be following that recommendation. All performances through March 31st at La Mirada Theatre will be postponed until future dates to be determined. Specifically, this policy applies to the following shows: BRANDON HEATH, A TRIBUTE TO JOHNNY CASH, THE CLAIRVOYANTS, THE RIGHTEOUS BROTHERS, SO NOW YOU KNOW, THE TAP PACK, ENGELBERT HUMPERDINCK THE BENNY GOODMAN TRIBUTE ORCHESTRA & THE FOUR FRESHMEN. If you have tickets for the above shows, there are several options: Keep the tickets and seat locations you currently have now.  Your tickets will be valid on the new performance date to be determined after we consult with the artists. Receive a credit in the form of a gift certificate that never expires and is valid for any upcoming performance at La Mirada Theatre. Or if you prefer, receive a full refund for the event. ALL performances after April 1, including THE SOUND OF MUSIC are still proceeding as planned. If this situation should change, they will alert me immediately. CLOSED - THE WALLIS ANNENBERG CENTER FOR THE PERFORMING ARTS

Rachel Fine, Executive Director & Chief Executive Officer at Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts sent an email stating “Given the current state of the COVID-19 global outbreak and in light of the World Health Organization’s official pandemic declaration this morning, The Wallis has made the difficult but important decision to cancel or postpone all productions, presentations, public gatherings and educational programs through March 31, 2020.” This includes Romantics AnonymousEmil and the Detectives and Johnny Gandelsman’s Complete Bach Cello Suites concert on violin.

“The Wallis feels it has a critical responsibility to prioritize the safety and health of its patrons, artists, staff, friends, colleagues, clients and partners at this time and be proactive in its efforts to prevent the spread of this unpredictable virus.”

The Wallis with its Board of Directors will evaluate the opportunities to hold performances and gatherings on its campus on a weekly basis and make adjustments accordingly. 

CANCELLED - Out of an abundance of caution, GEFFEN PLAYHOUSE has canceled performances of their currently running production of Man of God through March 22, 2020, and will reassess its future performance dates. Contact Box Office Daily 12–6 pm (310)208-2028.
