In the past week, many businesses across the country have taken precautions to prevent damage to their buildings. However, one theatre company in Oregon decided to spray paint their own building in support of the Black Lives Matter movement.

The Artists Repertory Theatre in Portland posted a video to their Facebook page showing the tags on the facade of their space.

"You want to talk about who deserves better? Black people deserve better," the person recording says. "So this is just a building, which is our choice to tag. And if you're struggling with the gravity, I would definitely suggest start writing down and speaking out loud the names of all the people that have been killed.”

According to their website, Artists Repertory Theatre is the longest-running professional theatre company in Portland being founded in 1982.

Their stated mission is to “produce intimate, provocative theatre and provide a home for a diverse community of artists and audiences to take creative risks.”

Last year their season included Indecent and 1984.
