Watch Broadway's 'Company' pay tribute to Stephen Sondheim

Last night, the company, musicians and crew of the Broadway revival of Company paid tribute to composer Stephen Sondheim, who passed away at the age of 91.

Director Marianne Elliott told the audience, “Doing a Sondheim on Broadway, it doesn’t get any better than this. I hope tonight is a celebration of his joy.”

Patti LuPone then announced that the entire run would be dedicated to him.

Over the course of his career, he won an Oscar, a Pulitzer, eight Grammy Awards, eight Tony Awards, a Kennedy Center honor and the Presidential Medal of Freedom. The Stephen Sondheim Theater in Manhattan's Theater District is named for him.

Mr. Sondheim had just attended the first performance of the show since the COVID-19 shutdown.

The cast of Company stars Katrina Lenk and Patti LuPone. Other principal cast members include Matt Doyle, Christopher Fitzgerald, Christopher Sieber, Jennifer Simard, Terence Archie, Etai Benson, Bobby Conte, Nikki Renée Daniels, Claybourne Elder, Greg Hildreth and Rashidra Scott. The complete cast of Company also includes Kathryn Allison, Britney Coleman, Jacob Dickey, Javier Ignacio, Anisha Nagarajan, Nicholas Rodriguez, Heath Saunders, Tally Sessions, and Matt Wall.
