Performers with big egos are seen as difficult to work with, and an overall pain, whether they are especially talented or not.

When we spoke on the phone, Mr. Cariou was tight-lipped about “Broadway & the Bard,” a show he originated Off-Broadway in 2016. But he calls the concert a “musical memoir” and a chance to review his storied career. It’s clear that at 79, he has many stories to tell and many more songs to sing.

BroadwayRadio critic, Peter Filichia recently body shamed performers on their weekly podcast. Many have called out the longtime critic while others have defended him by stating this isn’t indicative of him as a writer. However, when looking at some of his previous reviews, Filichia appears to have a history with making these types of comments. They range from racist to describing people with fat phobic terminology.

On this past week’s episode of BroadwayRadio’s “This Week on Broadway”, critic Peter Filichia, decided to including body shaming in his review of Camp Morning Wood: A Very Naked Musical, going as far as to comment on the size of the performers’ genitals and repeatedly calling one of them, “substantially overweight.”

Many people living on low incomes often get left out of the accessibility discussions in theatre, but there are several ways to reach low-income communities with your theatre, and these communities are some who need theatre the most.

Aquarius - Inspector Javert

Aquarians have a strong sense of social justice and dedicate most of their lives to making the world a better place. Javert’s strong moral compass often gets in his way of his everyday life, as he becomes obsessed with doling out justice to those who openly defy it.

Knowing your space can be accomplished very easily, with a little bit of forethought and respect for the stage. Checking right away will allow you to think about changes you need to make according to staging modifications, and will budget you the maximum time possible to make these decisions.

Some people highly discourage having a back-up plan because they feel that it will make the performer less passionate about their work. Others think that performers need a back-up plan to survive. These differing opinions can get confusing for a performer; you want to stay passionate, but you want to be responsible. So, what do you do?

The Prom movie’s casting feels like the prom that was planned behind the backs of the original Broadway cast, and they’re not allowed to attend.

For many people, theatre IS their outlet- a way to escape from the average, everyday, 9-5 grind. However, when your 9-5 grind consists of singing "9 to 5" and dancing full out to all the other numbers in that show (while in 3" heels), it may not be the most relaxing thing to leave your paid rehearsal and go to an unpaid rehearsal for a show you're doing 'just for fun'.

Monday could very well be the most important night of their lives.

After bopping around through an exuberant, five-minute mash of songs from currently running Broadway shows – “Tootsie,” “The Cher Show” and “Be More Chill,” to name a few – the 86 nominees stood grinning and red-faced.

“That was an adrenaline run,” said choreographer Keisha Lalama.

Rejection is a big part of the theatrical industry, and it is something that everyone in the business must deal with. However, instead of dwelling on the pain of getting rejected, let’s focus on the ways you can overcome the feeling of dejection, and how to turn it into something constructive.
