Let’s state the facts: Without you, a prodcution’s magic would be lost. Stage crews are the people backstage who solve problems we didn’t know were about to happen and move the show along in the most magical way.

Before last night’s performance of the Broadway revival of West Side Story, a group of about a dozen protesters gathered outside to peacefully voice their outrage over the casting of Amar Ramasar in the show. And their display did not go unnoticed.

While I will not go see the show, those who have told me that rather than doing individual curtain call bows, the cast of the revival of West Side Story is bowing as one big ensemble. Now, this could be for a number of reasons. But for me, the reason why they’re doing this is to protect Amar Ramasar.

For many Broadway fans, this weekend is their Super Bowl.
