'Avatar: The Last Airbender' – Top 10 Episodes

“Though marketed as a children’s show it addresses mature themes of destiny, war, oppression, totalitarianism, coming of age, equality, and much more. “It’s been reported that Disney is going to develop a new “Pirates of the Caribbean” film with Margot Robbie set to star. While a commendable move to center a franchise on a female character, I question why Disney picked a white woman rather than a woman of color, especially when Hollywood is being put on notice to increase BIPOC representation on film. What’s even more surprising is that Disney tapped Robbie to star in this forgetting that a prominent actress of color had already been featured in the original franchise.”

How Movies Bridge Racial Divides

Recently, I wrote about the need to be comforted by movies during Covid-19. It’s a sad irony that so soon I feel the need to be challenged by them, but the moment calls for it.
