THE MARY TYLER MOORE SHOW standout and frequent stage star Georgia Engel has passed away at age 70 according to an official announcement this week by her friend and executor of her estate, John Quilty.
Of note, no cause of death has been determined as a result of Engel's Christian Scientist beliefs.
Engel made her Broadway debut in 1969 as a replacement in the original production of HELLO, DOLLY! with subsequent theatrical credits including a 1990s national tour of NUNSENSE, a replacement stint in John Guare's THE HOUSE OF BLUE LEAVES, participating in the original Broadway cast of THE DROWSY CHAPERONE and most recently headlining the Paper Mill Playhouse production of new musical HALF TIME in 2018.
Television credits include EVERYBODY LOVES RAYMOND, COACH, THE BETTY WHITE SHOW and HOT IN CLEVELAND, among numerous others.
