West End Wicked’s Interval Delayed Almost an Hour Due to Disruptive Audience Member

by Chris Peterson

A disruptive audience member reportedly delayed the start of Act Two at Wicked at London’s Apollo Victoria Theatre on October 9, with frustrated theatregoers said to have chanted “Get out” during the interval.

Details remain limited, but videos reportedly circulating on TikTok show audience frustration escalating as a woman’s refusal to leave allegedly holds up the performance. One video clip below shows theatre staff talking with the audience member allegedly at the center of the incident.

@rooswatercolours Last night we went to Wicked and this woman refused to leave for 50 minutes. In the end 3 security guards had to sit next to her. Children were crying. People had travelled from America to see the show. Watch to the end and a random man starts putting his hands up telling me not to film. TikTok do your thing….. #wicked #wickedforgood #viral #theatre #fyp ♬ original sound - rooswatercolours

According to accounts of the incident, the woman was a part of a group that had been causing a disturbance during the first act. Theatre staff reportedly intervened, but she refused to leave, prolonging the disruption into the interval and delaying the start of the second half for almost an hour.

At one point, members of the audience reportedly began chanting “Get out.”

The performance eventually resumed. The woman is reported to have left during Act Two, rather than before the show restarted.

This is a developing story.
