Get ready Broadway for Renee Rapp.

On Monday, the 19-year-old gave a special preview performance ahead of her Broadway debut as Regina George on Friday, June 7.

Rapp will play the role of Regina from June 7 to June 26 during a leave of absence for current powerhouse Taylor Louderman. Rapp officially takes over the role beginning Sept. 10.

I would like you to meet the oh so talented, Jennifer Apple. Jennifer will be starring as Anna in the upcoming National Tour of The Band's Visit. She is a performer that I have genuinely admired for a long time, and anyone who knows Jennifer Apple only speaks volumes or her talent, work ethic, and dedication to this industry. It was such an honor to have the chance to interview her!

At only 14 years old, Emerson Steele had accomplished what most musical theatre actors only dream of: she made her Broadway debut in an award-winning musical, shared the stage with her idol, recorded a cast album, performed at the Tony Awards, and even won a 2014 Theatre World Award playing the younger version of Sutton Foster’s character in the acclaimed Jeanine Tesori/Brian Crawley musical Violet. She hit the jackpot of show biz success, but this ambitious Georgia native was just getting started.

Shawna Khorasani is a screenwriter and director from California. I was fortunate to have the opportunity to act in her first web series, The Adventures of Serena Berg. She just wrapped her second short film, LoverGirl. It’s a romantic comedy about two teenage girls in which the main character, a high school senior named Dakota, stages a bunch of grand romantic gestures to ask out her crush, Danny, and hilarity ensues every time. Shawna describes it as a “funny, happy, sweet love story about two young women.”

The entire cast is part of the LGBTQ+ community, something that Shawna feels is very important as a queer creator.  I had the chance to catch up with her and talk independent filmmaking and the importance of queer representation.

Hey, people!  Put down the video games, log off Tinder for a minute and pay some attention to what I’m about to tell you.  I’m here to publicly declare that something truly remarkable was recently gifted to the canon of the modern musical, and I need to talk to you about it.  On This Side of the World is, to my mind, the quintessential musical for the Asian American.  Don’t give me any nonsense about Flower Drum Song, please.  You sound foolish when you do that. 

I would like you to meet the oh so talented Eben K. Logan. Originally from Maryland, Eben is currently starring as Miss Honey in Matilda at The Drury Lane Theatre in Illinois. Some of her credits include the 2015 National Tour of Memphis, Sweet Charity at The Marriot Theatre, Ragtime and A Chrismas Carol at Ford’s Theatre in DC, and Jelly’s Last Jam at Signature Theatre in Virginia just to name a few. I first met Eben well over ten years ago while attending Montgomery College in Rockville, Maryland. Every time Eben hits the stage she truly leaves her mark and it is something you will never forget. It was so great to catch up with an old friend and a fantastic artist!
