Greater Boston Stage Company opened its 20th Anniversary season with the world premiere of “Last Night at Bowl-Mor Lanes,” by Weylin Symes. This play tells the story of Ruth and Maude, two women “of a certain age,” who break into their hometown bowling alley the night before it gets shut down and turned into a Walmart.

“The play gives us multiple perspectives from these women and allows us to work out all of the ideas given to us for ourselves. There is no one answer that we are led to and this results in the audience having to think it out for themselves, and really critically evaluating what they just saw, which is exactly what a play like this wants to do.”

Thankfully, the program does have a character breakdown that details their relationships and Miller-Stephany has assembled a great cast, who has made a compelling and delightful production of classic 20th-century theater.”
